Examine the figure shown, which depicts one stage in the process of translation in a eukaryote. What will happen when the ribosome shifts one codon further on the mRNA, assuming the next codon is not a stop codon? Select all that apply. - The tRNA carrying the polypeptide will be in the P site. - The tRNA that is no longer carrying the polypeptide will be ejected from the ribosome. - The sites of the ribosomes will be relabeled (from left to right) P, A, E. - A new tRNA will bind to the ribosome. - The tRNA that is in the A site in the figure shown will be ejected from the ribosome.

A ribosome has a tRNA in its P site that is attached to a polypeptide. The ribosome's A site is sitting over a stop codon. What will happen next? The stop amino acid will be added to the polypeptide chain, and the polypeptide will be released. A terminator tRNA will bind in the A site of the ribosome, and the polypeptide will be released. A protein called a release factor will bind to the A site and the bond between the tRNA in the P site and the polypeptide chain will be hydrolyzed. The ribosome will shift three nucleotides toward the 3' end of the mRNA to expose the next codon in the A site

After translocation has occurred during translation, a tRNA molecule will exit the ribosome via the ____ site, the tRNA in the ____ site is bound to the growing polypeptide, and a new tRNA molecule carrying a new amino acid enters the ribosome by the ____ site. A) E; P; A B) P; A; E C) E; A; P D) A; P; E E) A; E; P
