In many ways, Perry is a typical middle-schooler: he has energy, curiosity, interests, and good friends. Of course, in one regard he is not a typical middle schooler: he lives in a minimum-security prison and is raised not only by his mother but by the entire prison population. Later, he is removed from the prison and taken to live at the VanLeer home. What is your opinion about VanLeer's decision to remove Perry from the prison? Is he right, wrong, or somewhere in the middle?
