In this experiment, RNAi was used to knockdown 3 genes in Drosophila cells: GFP (green fluorescent protein), AGO1 (Argonaut), and GW182 (P-body protein). Cells were then lysed and RNA was subjected to Northern blot analysis using complementary radioactive DNA probes for 4 genes that are targets for miRNAs: CG1998 (targeted by K-box miRNAs), Axs (targeted by miR-285), CG6770 (targeted by miR-277), and CG10007 (unknown which miRNA targets it).
