00:01 Okay, so this question is asking basically, how is mcconkey, eocene - methylene blue, or emb, and mantelal -salt -a -a -ogir or msa, how are each of these three media? how are they selective, and then how are they differential? so let's go ahead and go through this.
00:18 So mcconkey auger is selective because it selects for gram -negative.
00:25 It does this because it has a bile in it, as well as crystal violet, which is, both of which inhibit gram positives.
00:39 They're differential because of lactose fermentation.
00:46 So if a bacteria can grow on there, the next differential aspect of the media is which is that whatever grows on there can or can they not ferment lactose, and we can detect that.
00:59 For emb, eocene -methylene blue also selected for gram -negative.
01:06 And in this case it's because of methylene blue and actually really eocene as well they both inhibit gram negative so let me just say this i'm sorry they inhibit gram positives let's do that that might be easier so they inhibit gram positives what is the differential again lactose fermentation the media can determine because of the ph indicators or something like that, because of the various ph indicators, they can determine whether or not lactose is being fermented...
