Instruction Case Study: It's an Agile World This case illustrates a common problem in software and IT development, where programmers and IT staff are anxious to lock in specifications as early as possible so they can get to work without having to worry about invasive or disruptive input from the end users. Unfortunately, what typically happens is that the finished product is not what the users needed or thought they needed, and a long list of fixes and modifications are required to make it work correctly. This case is based on a true story in a hospital IT department that routinely struggled with these sorts of user conflicts until they shifted to an Agile methodology. Questions: 1) Why does the classic waterfall project planning model fail in this situation? 2) What is it about the IT department's processes that lead to their finished systems being rejected constantly? 3) How would an Agile methodology correct some of these problems? 4) What new development cycle would you propose?

Step 1
- The waterfall model is linear and sequential, meaning it relies on completing one phase fully before moving on to the next. This model fails in dynamic environments like IT development because it does not accommodate changes well after the project has started. Show more…

Case Study 1: Requirements within Traditional Methodology vs. Scrum Task 1 (1 point): For the below requirements, answer the following questions: Is the format and content of the below requirements reasonable within a traditional methodology? The answers must be justified, and the requirements should be fixed if necessary to be correct within the methodology. No justification or the requirement isn't properly fixed (in the case the fix is needed) == 0 points for the task. R1. When the user clicks "Settings" icon, the Web app shall reasonably present user statistics on completed games. Task 2 (1 point): For the below requirements, answer the following questions: Is the format and content of the below requirements reasonable within an agile methodology? The answers must be justified, and the requirements should be fixed if necessary to be correct within the methodology. No justification or the requirement isn't fixed (in the case the fix is needed) == 0 points for the task. R2. When the user prefers to play in the Dark-mode of the game, the Web app shall provide this opportunity promptly. Task 3 (1 point): For the below requirements, answer the following questions: Is the format and content of the below requirements reasonable within a traditional methodology? The answers must be justified, and the requirements should be fixed if necessary to be correct within the methodology. No justification or the requirement isn't fixed (in the case the fix is needed) == 0 points for the task. R3. The user clicks "Enter" button, so that the system could highlight correctly guessed letters green, but only if the user entered a 5-letter word, which might be from the game's dictionary.

An Accenture consulting team is tasked with developing a new client operating model and decides to follow the Waterfall approach. The team misses the client deadline because they did not work together and share information. For the next iteration, the team decides to work in a series of sprints, with brief daily meetings to ensure all team members collaborate effectively. Which Agile approach is described in this example? Design Thinking Scrum Kanban XP I don't know this yet.

An Agile Release Train (ART) is frequently discovering compatibility issues between the developed solution and the Enterprise information architecture. What can the RTE do to prevent this from occurring? - Conduct the data architecture design earlier - Develop more detailed Feature definitions - Add Data Architects to the ART - Confirm attendance of architectural representatives at PI Planning
