Isolation and abandonment were common themes in our drama unit, but we noticed these themes appeared in "The Lottery," "The Yellow Wallpaper," and "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas" as well, with one or more of the characters being abandoned or isolated, usually by some circumstance outside of their control. Discuss one or both of these themes, commenting on how isolation and/or abandonment impacted different characters in the fiction pieces we read. How did the isolation and/or abandonment change the way they thought or acted? Make comparisons or parallels between two or more of the works, using specific examples to prove your points.
