Sports drinks are hypotonic drinks that have lower concentration of carbs and salts than blood so that is absorbed into the bloodstream at a faster rate. 8. Sea water is hypertonic to human blood. What would happen if a severely dehydrated person consumed a hypertonic solution such as sea water? It can lead to shock, weak pulse, low blood pressure and extreme case can cause death 9. A dialysis bag that is impermeable to sucrose is filled with a sucrose solution. The bag is then placed in a beaker of distilled water. Predict whether the weight of the bag will increase or decrease with time, and explain why. 10. Use the information provided in Section 4 of this lab about glycoproteins and glycolipids to explain why a person who has had a kidney transplant must take drugs that suppress the immune system. Be specific in your answer.
