Photosynthesis (LIGHT and DARK reactions) enable plants to capture energy from sunlight and carbon dioxide (CO2) to produce ATP and NADPH for the rest of the plant cell (cytosol and mitochondria). Oxygen is the electron acceptor of oxidative phosphorylation (OP). The sugars that are once exported from the chloroplast are oxidized and used to synthesize ATP. Water that needs to be recycled after the water splitting reaction.
