This group contains the greatest diversity of species and the largest number of individuals found on the planet. In fact, 75% of all animal species are Arthropods. The word Arthropoda means "jointed foot" and all arthropods have jointed appendages. In addition, all have an external skeleton (also jointed) made of Chitin.
