Subpubic angle In general, the pelvis is somewhat lighter in weight and wider laterally but shorter superiorly to inferiorly. Pelvic inlet In general, the pelvis is more funnel-shaped and has obvious muscle attachment points. Sacrum The sacrum in the female is broader with the inferior part directed more posteriorly. Female The female pelvis is heart-shaped in males and oval in females. Ischial tuberosities The ischial tuberosities are broader and more shallow in females. Pelvic outlet The pelvic outlet is less than 90 degrees in males and greater than 90 degrees in females. Ischial spines The ischial spines are farther apart in females. Male The male pelvis is turned laterally in females and medially.
