Iodine is used to detect the presence of starch in cells, because it stains starch deep blue. If an animal cell and a plant cell are treated with iodine, what would be observed?
Why is methylene blue used to view epithelial cells? It stains them so they stand out against the background. The cells absorb the methylene blue as a source of food. Methylene blue allows the spectrophotometer to determine the absorbance reading. The cells phagocytize the blue stain.
