(a) Sketch the resulting magnetic field patterns and their direction when a current-carrying conductor (represented by a circle with a dot) is placed between the two pole faces of a permanent magnet. Also, indicate the resulting direction of movement of the conductor.
(b) Explain why the conductor will move in the indicated direction.
