In this video, we are going to briefly discuss erickson's stages of psychosocial development.
00:06
So here on the left -hand side, we have the stage, the approximate time period in which it would occur in development, and then the name of the stage.
00:15
So the first is infancy, and in infancy, you're dealing with trust versus mistrust.
00:20
So it's basically a relationship between child and caregiver, parents, or whoever's taken care of the child, and if the caregivers show that they can be depended on, and if they're obliged, and they give the care that the child expects and the child develops trust.
00:34
And otherwise, if the child's expectations are deviated from by the caregiver, then there's an breeding of mistrust.
00:44
Next we have early childhood.
00:47
And that's going to be autonomy versus shame and doubt.
00:51
So basically, this is when the child autonomy would be developing a sense of his or her own independence.
00:59
And if the child succeeds in that, then they're going to become autonomous.
01:04
And otherwise, they're going to feel ashamed.
01:06
They're going to doubt their own abilities because they can't reach independence.
01:14
All right.
01:18
And then we have around the preschool age initiative versus guilt.
01:28
And that's going to be when basically children explore their environment, they play around and so on.
01:36
And they try to find a sense of, of purpose.
01:43
And if they succeed in balancing their control and fitting into their environment, then they can take initiative and otherwise they feel guilt.
01:54
All right.
01:55
Moving on.
01:56
Next stage is industry versus inferiority.
02:00
And basically, so this is the age when children are like exposed to like demands in school for the first time and also in social aspects...
