So let's break down the term.

If we have non -polar covalent, first of all, the covalent, sometimes we also see molecular as a synonym, just means that we're working with non -metals that are bonded together.

And a covalent bond means that they've shared electrons, rather than like an ionic gland where we have a transfer of electrons to obtain a charge.

So non -metals, we've shared electrons.

And non -polar means that the electrons are shared relatively equally between the atoms.

Like none of them has a preference of pulling electrons and creating a more electron -dense region.

So as an example, we could consider like a diatomic species.

Like for instance, if we have the fluorine molecule, f2 exists as f2 in nature to be most stable.
