Okay, today we're going to look at the food web of an aquatic or marine setting.

So we are going to have a series of levels of consumers.

First, a primary producer, followed by primary consumer, then by secondary consumers.

So in most ecosystems, we've got the sun.

The sun is producing food for our primary consumers, or i'm sorry, the primary producers, which in this case are going to be the kelp as well as the phytoplankton.

Okay, so then we have the sea urchins.

The kelp is feeding the sea urchins and i'm drawing the arrows in direction of the energy flow.

So the way that the arrows are pointing are the way that the energy is flowing through the system.

So these sea urchins, nothing in this system that we're going to be talking about is eating the sea urchins.

But we have a couple of things that are eating the phytoplankton.

Well, foremost, it's going to be the zoo plankton.

The zoo plankton is going to feed two different things.

The perch, or sea perch, as well as the polack.

These are both types of fish.

The perch are going to be eating the smaller zooplankton, and the polok, are going to be eating the larger zoo plankton.

So continuing, the perch are going to be feeding the harbor seals and the polack as well.

However, the harbor seals have a choice.

They're going to be eating the sea perch over the polack.

Then we have the killer whales orcas going after the baby harbor seals, but just harbor seals in general.

But now we have the baleen whales.

They're pretty big, but surprisingly, they're living on really small things, such as the zooplankton.
