Please define these terms: 1. Stressors 2. Stress 3. Stress Management Once you have defined the above terms please reflect on how well you believe people handle stressors in their lives. PLEASE DO NOT MENTION ANY NAMES IN OUR CLASS DISCUSSIONS to insure confidentiality. Then list characteristics of a good stress manager? Why do you believe that to be the case?
Akash M.
Think about a stressor that you recently faced, and name one physiological change that occurred as a result of this stressor activating the sympathetic nervous system (rather than the HPA axis). Describe what would need to happen (psychologically/behaviorally) to activate the parasympathetic nervous system in this example, and explain this in terms of allostasis so that it is clear that you know what allostasis is.
Activity 3: SELF-REFLECTION From the results of your self-concept inventory, interpret your own results by considering the information below. How do you perceive yourself? Look at the results of your self-concept inventory and answer the following questions. 1. In what areas do you consider yourself strong (with a score of 14-16) or somewhat weak (with a score of 10-13) and very weak (with a score below 10)? 2. Are these qualities you consider as your weaknesses, but other people consider them as your strengths? What are these?
