Iodometry. A standard solution was prepared by dissolving 1.234 g KCrO3 (MM=294.18) in distilled water to make 250 cm^3. An excess of acidified potassium iodide was added to a 25 cm^3 portion of this standard KCrO3 solution, and the liberated iodine was titrated against a sodium thiosulfate solution to the starch end point. The concentration of the thiosulfate is: CrO3 + 14H+ + 6e^- -> 2Cr^3+ + 7H2O, E° = 1.36V; I2 + 2e^- -> 2I^-, E° = 0.54V; SO2 + 2e^- -> 2SO2^-, E° = 0.08V.
