Why is wind a renewable resource? Wind occurs when the Sun heats Earth unevenly. It is replenished as more energy from the Sun reaches Earth. Winds move around Earth without stopping. After they pass a certain location, they eventually return to where they started. Wind occurs because of geothermal energy from Earth. It is replenished continually by this geothermal energy. Winds are made of endless amounts of energy. Capturing some of the energy in wind does not reduce the total energy of the wind.
