A deermouse is living on Blue Sky Mountain in Colorado at 4350 m, where atmospheric pressure is 57% of sea level. Using information from slide 4 in Powerpoint presentation 69 (aka Table 27.2), please answer the following questions:
What is the water content of the ambient air at 50% RH and 0°C? (These are the actual conditions as I write this.)
If the deermouse exhales air at 37°C, what is the water content of that air?
If the deermouse exhales air at 10°C, what is the water content of that air?
How much water will the deermouse conserve by exhaling air at the lower temperature?
Don't forget to correct for the lower atmospheric pressure at high altitude.
