Prepare a standard series of bovine serum albumin (BSA) and distilled water in Eppendorf tubes. The concentration of the standard solutions should be 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 1.0 mg/mL, respectively.
The BSA solution, which will be used as the starting point for the standard solutions, has a concentration of 10 mg/mL. Use the dilution law to calculate how many mL you need to extract from the 10 mg/mL solution in order to create a dilution with a total volume of 10 mL and a concentration of 1 mg/mL. This dilution will be referred to as an intermediate standard and will have the highest concentration in the standard series.
From this intermediate standard solution, you will then create the other five dilutions. Therefore, calculate how many mL you need to extract from the 1 mg/mL solution in order to dilute it to concentrations of 0.8 mg/mL, 0.6 mg/mL, 0.4 mg/mL, 0.2 mg/mL, and 0.1 mg/mL. The total volume of these five dilutions should be 1 mL.
