Problem 5 — In the lecture, we talk about one scheme of data transfer called Time Division Multiplexing (TDM), shown as a block diagram at right. We want to design the multiplexer block at the transmitter side and the demultiplexer block at the receiver side to handle five data channels.
a. The five data channels (A,B,C,D,E) are multiplexed to the transmission line according to the function table at right. Use a minimum number of 2-to-1 muxes to implement this 5-to-1 multiplexer.
b. On the receive side, the demux is implemented by a decoder (active-high outputs) with enable. Assuming that the same select lines S2S1S0 are available at both ends, draw the block diagram showing how you would connect the inputs and outputs of the decoder to implement the desired demux scheme.
