00:01
All right.
00:03
Looks like you have some questions about how do you draw a ray diagram.
00:07
So i've created an example with some of the information that i have from your lab.
00:13
I don't have what object type used or how far away the object was from your lens.
00:21
So do and ho, i just left them as those values.
00:25
So you would want to plug those in.
00:27
And then i made my focal point 100, like you had in your lab.
00:34
Now with a lens, there's two focal points.
00:37
There's one in front, which i called f1.
00:40
And then there's one behind the lens, which i called f2.
00:44
And that's basically negative 100.
00:47
It's behind the lens.
00:51
Now, you'll want to do this like your instructor asks you to to make this on a scaled method.
00:58
So that you get an accurate drawing that will predict the actual image height and image distance.
01:09
So if you're using grid paper, you could probably, like they mentioned, make so many boxes equal to 10, like one box equal 10 millimeters, and then you could figure out from there.
01:22
So the f1 would be 10 boxes away from the lens on both sides, or on f2, and then f2 would be 10.
01:30
Box is on the right, i should say.
01:33
And then so far, so far the do and the h.
01:36
I don't know what heights or object distance you had for it, but you'd want to do the same scale.
01:43
Once you have those pieces drawn, the center line, that black line that i drew, the blue line represents the lenses location.
01:52
And then i want to put in an f1 and an f2.
01:55
And then the next step is to do the do.
01:58
Where's the do and the h -o? that's the height and the distance away from the lens.
02:04
So notice i made a little red arrow here for that.
02:10
Once i have that, then i'm going to begin making some rays.
02:13
And i've made three rays.
02:15
If you do this right and you use a ruler and you scale everything correctly, your three rays will all converge into one spot.
02:26
So the green ray was the first one that i built.
02:29
And that one i'm taking from the top of the object in bringing that in parallel to the black center line until it hits the lens.
02:40
And then i'm going to change that angle of that ray to bend towards the focal point on the right side...
