Complete the following statements about the role of Rh factor in hemolytic disease of newborns. Not all choices will be used. Blood type depends upon antigens as well as whether a person has or does not have Rh factor on the pathogens. If a fetus is Rh+ and its mother is Rh-, Rh- antibodies can leak across the placenta and cause the mother to produce anti-F Rh antibodies.
