A patient has recently suffered from a stroke and is concerned about her recent weight gain. She exercises everyday and eats a healthy diet but still seems to gain weight. 12. The ridges present on the brain are called gyri and grooves present in brain are called the sulci. These are the structures which allow more neurons to be packed in cerebral cortex and these are important to divide the brain into lobes. In some neurodegenerative disorder like alzheimer's disease, the neuronal cell will be dead and leads to decrease in the neural cell count. As age increases, the 94% of neural cells will be dead. So the sulci are widened and gyri size are shrinked. In what plane of section are the images in the "Clinical Connections: Hematoma" section above?
