Snowy plovers breed up and down the West Coast. Some individuals stay at their breeding areas year-round. Some individuals migrate South for winter. Some individuals migrate North for winter. There is no breeding site or wintering group fidelity. Individuals sometimes "divorce" their mate and move to another location during the breeding season to mate again. Thus, it is possible that an individual at one location could mate with an individual at any other location. Describe which birds comprise a snowy plover population.
