Sparky's Auto Group is growing rapidly and needs to update its automobile tracking system. Its goal is to have a centralized system that can track automobiles at all dealerships. Sparky's goal is to analyze its business and data and then design an application that will allow Sparky's Auto Group to track automobile inventory residing at each dealership, and to keep track of the sales information associated with each automobile. Sparky's Auto Group is a recently formed corporation that consists of multiple used car dealerships on both the north and south shores. Before Sparky's Auto Group was created in 2000, each dealership was managed and operated by a single owner. Since Sparky's Auto Group was created, each dealership has seen a steady increase in sales. Unfortunately, one of the biggest problems since the merger is that each of the dealer's inventory information is contained within their own location and is not centrally located for distribution. Currently, Sparky's Auto Group spends too much time (and money) making phone calls and faxing inventory sheets between dealerships to provide each of the locations with the most up-to-date inventory and sales information. To find a solution, Sparky's Auto Group has attended many national automobile industries shows and has discovered that a web-based database application solution could solve many of its information technology needs. The dealership would like a system that would centralize all data and make it accessible to each of the different Sparky's Auto Group locations. For example, if customers are searching for a specific automobile at one Sparky's Auto Group dealership and that dealership does not have the automobile, they can immediately search for that car at the other dealerships, thus allowing Sparky's Auto Group to keep customers. Sparky's Auto Group would also like the advertising factor of allowing its customers to go to Sparkys.com to view the vehicles from any lot. Realizing the need for an application and a centralized database system, Sparky's Auto Group has decided to hire your consulting company to analyze and design a system that converts its current way of doing business to a more streamlined and integrated approach.
