1. Assimilation is a process where enzymes are released into the environment, extracellular digestion takes place, and nutrients are absorbed. 2. Microcysts are produced by fungal-like organisms in the Myxomycota and Dictyosteliomycota. 3. According to Hawksworth (1991), there are at least 8 fungal species associated with every plant species. Thus, most of the fungi on earth have not yet been described and named. 4. Endobiotic organisms develop their thallus within the substrate and never use rhizoids for obtaining their nutrition. 5.
