Switch over to the cos option in the upper right. Describe the blue arrow and what it represents, compare and contrast it to the green arrow of the sine curve. Why does the blue arrow on the circle point left or right, but on the cosθ curve it points up and down? What's similar between the cosθ and the sinθ curves? What's different between them? They came from the same circle. What about the circle and the functions dictates their differences?

2. Consider the curve y = x3 and the curve defined by x = cos(t) and y = (cos(t))3 where t can be any real number. These are NOT the same. (a) Graph each curve. What is the difference between the two graphs? Why do they look different? (b) Describe what an animation of the parametric curve would look like as you follow the points from t = −2π to t = 2π.

A point starts at (x, y) = (4.3, 0) and moves counterclockwise along a circular path centered at (x, y) = (0, 0). Imagine an angle with a vertex at the center of the circular path subtending the path the point has traveled. Let θ represent the angle's measure (in radians). We recommend that you draw a diagram of this situation.
