00:01 All right, in this problem, it kind of uses the spreadsheet functionality that you're going to have to reference from your textbook.

00:08 So this is a six -part problem, and we're going to be entering formulas like this were excel or google sheets or some other sort of spreadsheet software.

00:19 So if we want to calculate gross pay in cell d2, a regular gross pay, that is, we're going to basically, the formula will be equals.

00:32 It's going to be our cell for 40 hours.

00:39 Times and the time symbol, the time symbol is usually denoted by an asterisk in both your calculator and excel type programs, times c2.

00:56 And that's going to calculate your regular hours times your hourly rate.

00:59 And then you don't have to do the calculation manually.

01:06 Part b asks us for to compute overtime hours.

01:15 Now, if you worked like 42 hours, like as we see in a2, cell a2, we're going to take a2 minus b2 because we work with regular 40 hours.

01:40 But we won't have to do that calculation each time the program will do it for us.

02:04 Okay and i want to just make a note that this is in cell f2 because we're going to need this for the future part two that's in cell f2 part d ask us to write the formula for total overtime pay so total overtime pay is going to be f2 times what we did in part b up here to calculate our overtime hours and that was in cell e2.
