Texts: IT270-PROJECT
Project Description
Develop a scenario to create a mobile-friendly website or an application that can benefit your classmates. The website/application should include a homepage with links to other pages. Also, include a bulletin board and chat room feature where students and the instructors can exchange information. Assume that your instructor is the project sponsor, you are the project manager, your classmates are your project team, and you have three months to complete the project. Make the necessary assumptions when needed.
For instance, assume that the website is about the IT270 course. Assume that this website would include a homepage with links to a syllabus for the class, lecture notes or other instructional information, links to the website for this textbook, links to other websites with project management information, and links to personal pages for each member of your class and other classes.
Provide the following requirements based on the approved scenario.
1. Using a mind mapping software, create a mind map of a SWOT analysis for the project, including at least two strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. (1 mark).
2. Develop a project charter (1 mark).
3. Document your approach for collecting requirements for the project. Include at least five technical requirements and five non-technical requirements in a requirements traceability matrix. (1 mark).
4. Identify the conditions/constraints that the project scenario may have. (1 mark).
5. Identify at least 5 milestones covering the main functions that the project provides. (1 mark).
6. Develop a work breakdown structure for the project. Break down the work to Level 3 or Level 4, as appropriate. Print the WBS in list form. Be sure the WBS is based on the project charter, the project scope statement, and other relevant information. (1 mark).
7. Using Microsoft Project or any similar tool, develop a project plan and draw a Gantt chart organized by the five project management process groups showing the task name and the duration of each task (Work Breakdown Structure (WBS))? (1 mark).
8. Define your strategy for monitoring and controlling the flow of the project. (1 mark).
9. Define your strategy for mitigating the potential risks. (1 mark).
10. Make the necessary assumptions for the estimated costs, benefits, and discount rate over three years. Then, perform a financial analysis (NPV, ROI, and Payback) for the project. (1 mark).
