In hemoglobin S and C diseases, ____ and ____are substituted for glutamic acid in the 6th position from the N-terminal end of the beta chain, respectively: Adenine and Leucine Tyrosine and Lysine Valine and Lysine Valine and Tyrosine

Sickle cell anaemia is caused by the substitution of Glutamic acid (Glue) by at the sixth position of the beta globin chain of the haemoglobin molecule. (a) Asn (Aspargine) (b) Gly (Glycine) (c) Arg (Argenine) (d) Val (Valine)
Sickle-cell anemia results from the replacement of a glutamate residue in the beta chain of human hemoglobin (hemoglobin HbS). Under conditions of low oxygen, HbS aggregates and distorts the red blood cell into a sickle shape. A sickled red blood cell is relatively inflexible and may clog capillary beds, causing pain and tissue damage. The sickled red blood cells also have a shorter lifespan compared to normal red blood cells. Which amino acids would be expected to produce a sickling effect when substituted for Valine at position 62? Cysteine Lysine Alanine Phenylalanine
