Hey there.
00:02
So to answer the question as to where dust originating from the human body originally starts out its life as, the answer and it's a bit squeamish at that would be that human body originated dust is, in fact, dead skin cells that are constantly flaking off and settling to the ground or in the air as you go about your day.
00:24
And so to give a very crude idea of what this entire process of flaking, off looks like.
00:31
I'll draw a brief diagram here.
00:33
Let's suppose that this line here represents the outermost layer of skin.
00:45
And so what's happening is that within the inner layers of skin in your body, there is a constant shifting and pushing of cells to the outside.
00:57
As new skin cells are made within the innermost layers of skin, they keep pushing older layers more out to the outside, where they're exposed to the outermost layer of the human body and end up being in contact with the environment the most.
01:12
And here, as the skin cells die off, whether due to natural causes, like reaching the end of their life cycle, or just due to environmental hazards like uv rays or mechanical stress from constant contact, rubbing, scratching and such, they end up flicking off, end up falling off the body, either just floating around in the air or settling down to the ground.
01:39
And this is a process that is constantly going on so long as you live with new skin cells, constantly dividing and growing to push out the already existing cells, where they would eventually die off and fall off your body...
