The Amur leopard is a critically endangered big cat native to the forests of Russia and China. Various conservation strategies have been implemented to prevent its extinction. Initially, conservationists provided additional prey to supplement the leopards' diet to maintain their health. While this helped improve survival rates, the population unfortunately still faced significant risks, partly due to skewed sex ratios were being male biased. Drawing on examples from the book or studies on sex ratios in other species, propose a hypothesis to explain why the sex ratios in the Amur leopard population became male biased.
