The client complains several hours after arriving from the cardiac procedural suite that her left arm hurts and the fingers are numb and tingling. The LPN/LVN notes that the arm is twice the size of the right arm, and the left breast is twice the size of the right breast and appears ecchymotic. The fingers on the left arm are cool to touch, and there is decreased capillary refill, and the pulses are decreased. The dressing to the left arm is dry and intact, and there is no bleeding at the site. What is going on, and what should the nurse do?
