The Data “I used the High School Longitudinal Study, which follows thousands of students across the country. The main variables I looked at were: - Science achievement (standardized test scores) - Homework completion (categorized as rarely, sometimes, or always) - Parental involvement (categorized as low or high) - Socioeconomic status, or family income, as a control variable This dataset is powerful because it lets us see patterns across a large, diverse group of students.” ### Slide 5: How Did I Analyze the Data? “I used a statistical method called ANCOVA—Analysis of Covariance. This method helps us compare science scores between groups, while making sure family income doesn’t skew the results. In other words, it lets us see the unique effects of homework and parental involvement on science achievement.”
