1. The endocrine gland known as the adrenal cortex is located on top of each kidney. It secretes several hormones, one of which is cortisol. Cortisol plays an important part in regulating the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats, particularly in times of stress (like during exams!). Cortisol production is controlled by adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) from the anterior pituitary gland. High blood cortisol inhibits ACTH production. Draw a block diagram of the feedback control system, labeling all signals, blocks, junctions, pickoff points, inputs, and outputs.
