'Answer each of the following questions regarding the market for labor in the fast-food industry: a. If wages in the retail industry increase (assume that the retail industry requires similar skills as the fast-food industry), the point representing the equilibrium wage and quantity of workers will move up and to the right along the market supply curve for labor: the market supply curve for labor will shift to the right: the market supply curve for labor will shift to the left: the point representing the equilibrium wage and quantity of workers will move down and to the left along the market supply curve for labor: b If new legislation limits the number of hours that workers under the age of 18 can work each week, the point representing the equilibrium wage and quantity of workers will move up and to the right along the market supply curve for labor: the market supply curve for labor will shift to the right: the market supply curve for labor will shift to the left: the point representing the equilibrium wage and quantity of workers will move down and to the left along the market supply curve for labor:'

Attached is a graph illustrating the market for labour. Assume the market is in equilibrium to begin with. If we were to increase the minimum wage above the equilibrium price then the quantity demanded of labour would (increase, decrease, stay unchanged), the quantity supplied of labour would (increase, decrease, stay unchanged) and therefore (there would be a shortage of labour, there would be a surplus of labour, demand would be equal to supply). This means that the new minimum wage is (binding, non-binding). Workers surplus would change by the area (D+G, B+C-G, B-G, none of the options) and overall deadweight loss for the minimum wage would be equal to the area (A+B+C+D+G, A+B+C, D, none of the options).

The economy is in a recession with high unemployment and low output. a. Draw a graph of aggregate demand and aggregate supply to illustrate the current situation. Be sure to include the aggregate-demand curve, the short-run aggregate-supply curve, and the long-run aggregate-supply curve. b. Identify an open-market operation that would restore the economy to its natural rate. c. Draw a graph of the money market to illustrate the effect of this open-market operation. Show the resulting change in the interest rate. d. Draw a graph similar to the one in part a to show the effect of the open-market operation on output and the price level. Explain in words why the policy has the effect that you have shown in the graph.
