The mouse and human genomes share about 75% similarity and mice have 24 chromosomes compares to our 23. Many of the sequences in human chromosome X occur in the mouse chromosome X in the same order. However the sequences of mouse chromosome 1 are found scattered within several human chromosomes. This is true of most mouse to human autosome comparisons. Describe or provide explanation why sequences of most mouse autosomes are found scattered into several human autosomes.
