The use of social networks is on the rise. Today, according to the data provided by the latest We Are Social study with the Hootsuite tool, more than half of the world's population, 53%, is connected to the Internet, and the majority are users or active users of social networks, a group that has increased by 14% since last year. A large part of this group accesses their favorite social networks by mobile, and there are even regions or countries where there are more devices than users.
In the study, you can consult the specific data of each country, as well as statistics by continents. The infographic below provides a summary of global data on media use.
Although Facebook is still the most used social network in the world with more than 2,000 million users and monthly active users, Instagram already doubles Twitter in active users. Following YouTube, it is third on the list with 800 million active users. In the case of Mexico, Instagram is the social network that attracts the most new users, who belong to the millennial generation, since 65% of them are between 18 and 39 years old.
Influence of social networks on our behavior
Due to this, the communicative flows are mimicked with the functioning of social networks and we acquire them as our own, making current interactions with other users through images, as well as through ephemeral messages such as stories, a function that Facebook has already included in its interface and we will soon see it in Google searches. Users act and programmers adapt, an interaction that leads to constant technological evolution.
Not only that, social networks have become people's showcase, these being decisive in determining our social acceptance. Hence, the ratings of both experiences and products are good or bad depending on how popular they are on the web. Also, it is increasingly important that an actor or actress has more followers on social networks than their own talent, training, or experience in the sector. In this post, the writer Roy Galán denounces the requirements that a few days ago they asked for in a casting in Madrid: "actress from 17 to 22 years old who has at least 80,000 followers on Instagram or who is an influencer".
Considering the above, in Guadalajara, a creative and software development company, applied a survey associated with the use of social networks by its employees within their working hours. For this, a sample of 26 men and 26 women was taken to identify a statistic of the time they use per day (remember that in this type of company one works by objectives) and the following was found:
Sex Hours per day affects homework, projects, etc.
