00:01
So you had a question about waste materials and agriculture.
00:05
So i made a list of six things.
00:07
I'm sure there's more things that we could list, though.
00:10
One of the main factors is animal waste products in the form of manure, and those can give off toxins such as methane, nitrates, and phosphates.
00:25
Methane is a greenhouse gas, which can give off or can cause heating of the plant.
00:31
Nitrates and phosphates can cause damage in the water supply.
00:37
The good thing about these products, though, is that we can make fertilizers out of them.
00:43
So proper agricultural waste management will use that animal manure to actually make fertilizer.
00:51
So we can reuse that for a plant, for fertilizer for plants.
00:56
The second thing that i listed was animal respiration.
01:00
We don't think about it, but when we have these very large cattle and pig feed lots, they give off a lot of carbon dioxide because of the animal respiration that the animals are breathing.
01:18
So that can add to the greenhouse gases as well.
01:23
The third is when we're planting crops, we are utilizing a small amount of that material.
01:32
The rest of it is being discarded, and maybe it's being recycled and reused in some fashion, but a lot of plant material is not...
