Hello everyone, in this video we're going to be describing the vertical line test.

So what exactly is the vertical line test? the vertical line test is a test that can be used to determine if a graph is a function or not.

And so for it to be a function, it has to the vertical line that is drawn cannot intersect the graph more than once.

So what exactly does this mean? well, let's take a look at an example.

So here we have our graph, and here we have a simple function.

So we know that by drawing a vertical line from the y -axis down the y -axis, we see that it only intersects once.

And so based on a definition here, that for it to be a function, it cannot intersect more than once.
