1. Question 41 Based on your knowledge of cell cycle what would you predict the c of Weel kinase to be on the cell cycle? 1. The cell cycle would be dysregulated and the cell would cycle faster 2. The cell cycle would be dysregulated and the cell would not be able t would be very slow. 3. There will be no change in the cell cycle progression 4. All of the above are correct 5. Only A and C are correct.

Suppose that a genetic alteration resulted in the synthesis of cyclin-dependent kinases that no longer provided the "go" signal at the cellular checkpoint. Predict the immediate outcome if this were to alter the normal cell life-cycle processes at the G2 checkpoint. The cells involved would 1. grow and otherwise function undergoing mitosis 2. exit the cell cycle completely and enter a nondividing cellular state 3. most likely remain in suspended metaphase, unable to enter anaphase 4. proceed as normal, enter the G1, S, G2, and M phases, and divide.

Question 2. p53 inhibits cyclin CDK to control progression through the cell cycle. b) What would happen to the cell cycle if cyclin CDK activity were lost? There would be uncontrolled cell division as phosphorylation of proteins required for progression from G1 to S would not occur. There would be no effect unless cyclin CDK increased activity. Cells would arrest in G1 as phosphorylation of proteins required for progression from G1 to S would not occur. Cell would arrest in G1 as cyclins would not be phosphorylated.
