Aortic Aneurysm An aortic aneurysm occurs when the wall of the aorta, which is the main blood vessel that carries blood from the heart to the rest of the body, becomes weak and bulges outwards. This can be a life-threatening condition if the aneurysm ruptures and causes severe internal bleeding. Aortic aneurysms can occur in different parts of the aorta, including the ascending aorta, the aortic arch, and the descending aorta. They can be caused by a variety of factors, including high blood pressure, smoking, atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), and genetic factors. This has caused him to rest after walking 10-15 meters, despite previously having no issues with exercise. He has not experienced any chest pain or cough.
