When are two random samples independent? Two random samples are independent if each data value in one sample can be paired with a corresponding data value in the other sample. Two random samples are independent if enough time passes between collecting data for one sample and collecting data for the other sample. Two random samples are independent if the researcher collecting data for one sample is different from the researcher collecting data for the other sample. Two random samples are independent if at least some data values in one sample can be paired with a corresponding data value in the other sample. Two random samples are independent if sample data drawn from one population are completely unrelated to the selection of data from the other population.
