Kinesiology: Discuss the concept of transfer by recalling times that prior experience either assisted or hindered your performance of a particular skill. For example, a baseball player was asked to play tennis with a friend. Every time the baseball player hit the ball, it went over the fence like a home run. Explain how one skill affected the performance of another. This can also be done with non-sport-related activities. Using non-sport or non-exercise examples would be useful for a physical therapy (PT) student, who may work with clients to relearn a skill and transfer it from one skill to the next. Can the PT make a connection from something the person can do to something the person wants to do?
