Two children aged 8 and 9 were playing with fireworks (firecrackers) on Halloween night, outside of their school. Both children lit a firecracker and at the same time threw them in the school garbage disposal container. One of the firecrackers just happened to land in a half empty container of floor sealer, as the school had just finished resurfacing the gym floor. It is not known which of the firecrackers this was. An explosion occurred and the school was severely damaged by the ensuing fire. Discuss possible liability for these two children, in particular fully considering each of duty of care, standard of care, causation and remoteness.
