So here we're going to take a look at some different movements and what these movements are called.

Let's say that the movements of the arms were coming from by their side up to this position.

That's going to be referred to as abduction.

So when we have our arms at our side and we bring them up parallel to the ground, that is abduction.

So it's that movement away from the midline of our body is what we refer to as abduction.

Now the opposite movement, meaning that if they're in this position here, parallel out kind of towards the air and they move in towards our body, what's going to happen is that movement is called adduction.
