Communicating Science Science that is not communicated is lost to the scientific community (and, by extension, lost to society). For this reason, scientists communicate their findings to other scientists in the form of peer-reviewed journals. As students, you might not make a direct contribution to science, but by writing lab reports, you show that you understand concepts and are able to communicate them effectively. In this course, we are not expecting you to complete a full lab report, although we do expect this in 200- to 400-level biology courses. In addition to the standard "front matter" cover page with an initialled Academic Integrity declaration, an appended checklist, and a References Cited section, your "lab report" will consist of: - A Title - An Abstract - A Methods section - A Results section Caveat: If you use an idea from a source or a concept that is not common knowledge in your "lab report," you must cite and reference it.
