Why are certain amino acids defined as essential for human beings?
What are essential amino acids?
Dr. Satish I.
Of the 20 amino acids utilized in the body, 9 are considered essential, which means that the body does not produce enough to meet physiological needs and they therefore must be obtained from the diet. A conditionally essential amino acid is an amino acid that is normally considered nonessential but becomes essential under certain circumstances when the body does not produce enough to meet the individual's needs.
