Which of the following is considered a true explanation of why females generally experience a greater rate of knee injuries in comparison to males? Group of answer choices Females demonstrate a Q-angle between the femur and tibia of approximately 8-to-10° whereas males demonstrate no Q-angle. Females demonstrate a narrower intracondylar notch which increases the shear forces placed upon key ligaments during movement. Females have a wider tibial plateau in comparison to males which creates more limitations to movement at the knee in all three planes. Females have less knee laxity because of hormonal differences in comparison to men which can impose knee movement restrictions.

Estimate your own Q-angle: Using a marker, draw a dot on your anterior superior iliac spine of the pelvis, the midpoint of the patella, and your tibial tuberosity. Stand with your knees extended and quadriceps muscle relaxed and the medial borders of your feet touching. Now have someone take a photo of you in the described position with those three points visible. Print the photo and then draw a line from the ASIS to the midpoint of the patella and a second line from the tibial tuberosity through the midpoint of the patella. The angle formed by the intersection of the two lines is your Q-angle. Using a protractor, measure your Q-angle and then compare it to normal values.

Biology In some recent studies it has been shown that women are more susceptible to torn ACLs than men when competing in similar sports (most notably in soccer and basketball). What are some reasons why this disparity might exist?
Part A. The hamstring muscles provide lateral and medial stability to the knee joint, especially during pivot or turning type movements. True or False? Part B. Which of the following muscles would not suffer from bi-articular insufficiencies? gastrocnemius soleus gracilis biceps femoris
